Meet Our Board
Our Board of Directors is composed of 8 volunteers with expertise in many diverse areas. Simply put, the BMS is a group of local residents who would love to see mural art painted onto the plentiful bare walls of Berwick. Keep scrolling to learn more.
Gregory Hubbert, President
Greg Hubbert is a retired teacher from the Annapolis Valley School Board who is a long time Berwick resident. Greg has a lengthy list of volunteer commitments within the community, including his role as the President of the Berwick Mural Society.
John Dow, Secretary
John Dow is a long time resident of Berwick, born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton to a Cape Breton girl and a New Brunswick boy. Retired after 54 years in the health care system of Nova Scotia, John is an amateur genealogist and historian, currently focusing on families of Kings County, and the built history of Berwick. He is a member of the Apple Capital Museum Society, and also currently President of the Kings Historical Society and Kings County Museum in Kentville.
Debbie Hubbert, Treasurer
Debbie Hubbert is a retired Annapolis Valley School Board employee who is a long time Berwick resident with a lengthy list of volunteer commitments in the community.
Amanda Furniss
Amanda Furniss is a museum professional with a Bachelor of Arts from Acadia University and Master of Museum Studies from the University of Toronto. Since 2024, she has been the Executive Director of the Dartmouth Heritage Museum. With a passion for accessible history and 7 years of experience working at museums and cultural institutions in Nova Scotia and Ontario, she has been dedicated to researching and informing locals and visitors alike about the history of her community. Phil Vogler
Phil Vogler is a photographer and community historian from South Berwick. He scours the internet and old newspapers to find and share period documents and images related to Nova Scotia and the Annapolis Valley. His photographs have often been published in the Berwick Register, the Kentville Advertiser, and Kings County News.
Jesse Kemp
Jesse Kemp is a lover of all things art and soul. As a local businessman, he co-owns Country Stoves and Sunrooms located just outside of Berwick. He and his wife travel far & wide whenever time allows, always searching out the best street art the area has to offer - no matter how far off the beaten path. Performing as an electronic music DJ for the past 20 years has given him an exclusive perspective on the ongoing history of graffiti and street art.
John Rainforth
John Rainforth is a strong advocate for the Town of Berwick. He and his wife Louise have lived in Berwick for almost 50 years, and during that time have both engaged in countless groups and committees whose goal is to enhance life in the town. John has been a member of the Lions Club for 48 years, holding all major offices and chairing many committees. Now retired, John was principal of Berwick and District School for many years. He was first Deputy Mayor and then Mayor of Berwick for several terms, and has chaired both the Police Commission and the Berwick Electric Commission, of which he is still a citizen member. A director of the Apple Capital Museum Society for many years, he presently co-chairs that group.
Barry Corbin
Barry Corbin is a retired educator and former Berwick Town Councilor.
